Giant’s digital grant supports award win for Just a Drop

The pandemic certainly hit the charity sector hard in 2020. In light of the challenging situation, the team at Giant Digital launched a £20,000 grant in April 2020, to help a number of charities become more digitally resilient.

Whist each of the selected charities have gone on to make an incredible impact thanks to the support they received, one in particular has been recognised for its outstanding work in response to COVID-19, at the Charity Awards 2020.

Last week, Just a Drop won the Rathbones Covid-19 Response Award in the international section, for its dissemination of hand-washing and hygiene advice to curb the spread of Covid-19 across Asia, Africa and Latin America.

When Just a Drop’s corporate sponsors in the travel industry were no longer able to support them, the fundraising team were quick to act, finding new sponsors who were not so badly affected by the pandemic, such as soap and menstrual hygiene companies.

With this and the addition of Giant’s digital grant, Just a Drop was able improve their digital presence, increase fundraising revenue and maintain services, allowing them to support 328,000 people across Asia, Africa and Latin America with safe water and sanitation at the peak of the pandemic.

On hearing the news of Just a Drop’s impressive award win, Simon Evans, Director at Giant Digital said:

“We couldn’t be more pleased for the Just a Drop team, and we are extremely proud to have played a small part in their success during the pandemic. Our digital grant was intended to help charities survive lockdown by building their digital resilience. Just a Drop exceeded this with smart use of the resources they were given. I’m sure the whole team at Giant Digital will join me in congratulating Just a Drop for a well-deserved win”.

The Charity Awards is the longest-running and most prestigious awards scheme in the charity sector. Just a Drop's award was thanks to a special new category created by the award organisers to specifically recognise the fantastic contribution of the charity sector in responding to the coronavirus pandemic.

Fiona Jeffery OBE, Founder of Just a Drop, said:

“We are so delighted to have won this award. It was without question a hugely challenging year and this award is a testament to the entire team’s determination and resilience at a time of massive adversity and reflects the huge effort and collaboration across the Just a Drop team, our committed volunteers, trustees and local partners, as well as our funders and corporate partners. A massive thank you and congratulations to everyone involved”
