Giant Digital announces strategic partnership with Macular Society to transform digital presence

Giant Digital is proud to announce it will be working with the Macular Society to transform its digital presence. The digital partnership will include the redesign and replacement of its current website as well as working with the charity to refine its digital strategy.

The Macular Society is the only charity determined to beat the fear and isolation of macular disease with world-class research, and the best advice and support. Macular disease is the biggest cause of sight loss in the UK. Nearly 1.5 million people are currently affected and many more are at risk. The disease can have a devastating effect on people’s lives, leaving them unable to drive, read or see faces. Many people affected describe losing their sight as being similar to bereavement. There is still no cure and most types of the disease are not treatable. Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the most common form of macular disease, affecting more than 600,000 people, usually over the age of 50.

Giant, a developer who specialises in designing websites for charities, is committed to creating a better digital world and helping third sector organisations thrive. By delivering world-class digital products, it enables organisations to stimulate real change. Giant will work with the Macular Society to create a new website that engages its varied audiences, maximises revenue and supports its rapid growth.

The Macular Society will benefit from Giant’s varied team of ethical experts including technologists, creatives, behavioural experts and marketers. The partnership will continue throughout 2020, to provide the Macular Society with a portfolio of scalable, innovative digital assets and solutions.

Vimal Patel, Founder at Giant Digital, comments: “We are continually seeking like-minded, forward-thinking third sector professionals to join us in creating a better digital world. The Macular Society’s commitment to its cause and attitude to innovation has been hugely encouraging and we are excited to form a long term partnership to help end macular disease and support those suffering.”

Emma Malcolm, Director of Fundraising and Marketing, Macular Society said: “The new site will clearly reflect the ambitions we set out in our five-year business strategy published last year. It will reinforce our commitment to becoming the largest funder of research in the sight loss sector; offer the best possible advice and support to people affected by macular disease, and highlight exactly why good eye health is so crucial.

“The new site will provide the same level of usability, no matter whether it’s being accessed from a mobile device, tablet or desktop computer. And it will be fully accessible for people with visual impairments who use screen reading software and other tools.”

“Ultimately, we want to beat macular disease and find a cure for this cruel and isolating condition. The creation of a new website will play a crucial role in helping us to achieve this and we’re delighted to be working with Giant Digital on building the new site, and to strengthen our overall digital presence.”
